Spam that left click so fast your hand sets on fire and you burn a hole in your mouse pad. That’s what this game is all about my friends and anyone who has played Diablo will certainly notice some large familiarities with Sacred 2.

To experience this game in its full glory you will need a reasonably high end PC for its a pretty demanding game. The collectors edition has a added CD called “Elite GFX” which enhances the graphics even further and will make your eyes water from its beauty. The music is astonishing and very atmospheric with the power metal band Blind Guardian also making the theme song and an appearance in a video sequence. Make sure you set a few good hours aside if you plan on updating your game (which I highly recommend you do due to the excessively large amount of bugs) because many of the patches don’t seem to work and won’t apply to your game. (even the ones from the official site.)

The gameplay itself is rather repetitious as you would come to expect from any hack ‘n’ slash, where grinding through quests and new areas is a major element to the game. The quests themselves are your typical “collect some items” or “kill some people causing trouble” which don’t seem to hold much uniqueness at all. The main storyline itself is a little more involved yet it still lacks in depth and most likely won’t keep you interested. The AI (Artificial Intelligence) isn’t very intelligent at all and you will find enemies randomly spread out throughout the map walking around aimlessly. I may be a bit harsh on the game but once you put all those negatives aside and look at the game in its entirety you have yourself a addictive, fun, beautiful and massive environment to play around in.

Once you start the game and are ready to go you will have the option of 6 classes to pick from, with each having their own pros and cons.

The classes are:-

Seraphim – Skilled with weapons, technology and magic this is your typical Paladin like character.

High Elf – Your pure caster class. With the click of a finger or a wink of the eye the High Elf can cause massive destruction.

Dryad – The hippie tree hugging caster/bow user who is one with nature.

Temple Guardian – A ancient cyborg robotic creature with a gun arm specializing in melee and ranged physical damage.

Shadow Warrior – The deadly heavily armored melee fighter using brute strength and force to chop your foes.

Inquisitor – The evil priest/necromancer class summoning the dead and casting dark magic.

After picking your class you can choose your deity and which campaign you wish to play (good or evil) then the epic cut scene appears and your thrown into the wilderness. As you eradicate foes you will gain your much loved experience points and before you know it you will DING! and the ability to specialize and tweak your character will become available. When leveling you will have several attributes to choose from including Strength, Stamina, Vitality, Dexterity, Intelligence and Willpower. Depending on your level you may also have the ability to pick an extra Skill and Combat Art Slot. Once you get going it can become very difficult to put down and losing sleep may become apparent in some gamers.

All in all if you have some spare time up your sleeve and are looking for something to keep you going until Diablo 3 is released next year then Sacred 2 Fallen Angel may just be your best bet.

With the best RPG PC games poll coming to a close Wednesday I felt it might be pertinent (haha yes, big word for me) to see what other people out in the blogosphere have to say about their top RPG lists.

The Blogs

FAQs.org have a Best RPG Games list purely voted for by the people. Rather than just vote on their favourites, users are also able to vote a negative against a game they feel is unfairly placed. The top 3 at the time of this article are Diablo II, Dragon Age: Origins and Baldur’s Gate II. At the rate that DAO is rising I would not be surprised if it is in number 1 soon.

CVG have been kind enough to complete a Top 101 PC Games List for us to read. While not exclusively RPG, it’s interesting to see the top 25 dominated so heavily by PC role-playing games. Deus Ex makes number 1 (woo!) with Morrowind taking number 4. Oblivion makes in into the the top 15 at number 13.

The Top Tens brings us a used voted list of the Best RPG Video Game. FF VII takes the cake, with Oblivion and KOTOR in second and third respectively.

Top Ten Reviews is another blog that keeps lists of Top 10 based of user reviews. Always a good choice when checking out what games to play. Top 10 RPG Video Games features Fallout 3 as number 1 followed by KOTOR and Baldur’s Gate II.

Epinions keeps a regularly updated list of their Top 50 Best RPG’s Ever. Started in 2003 and updated every year, a lot of time and thought has been put into this list. Although it’s not for PC RPGs it’s still worth checking out.

Daniel Nations from examiner.com shares his view on the Top 10 from a gamer who has been playing a long time. His experience shows in his game choices: Number 1 is NWN followed by Ultima IV and Rogue. Check out Dan’s Top 10 Computer Role-Playing Games here.

BestRPGGames.net has used a specific criteria in deciding the Top 10 RPG PC Games of all time. Fallout 3 takes the top, closely followed by KOTOR and Morrowind.

Bonus: While this blog contains no Top 10 list, Rock’nRolf‘s blog has really great RPG reviews. If you like the stuff on my site, my bet is that you will enjoy his stuff too.

Blogger decided must play games

So from these 7 lists if we give 3 points for number 1, 2 for 2 and 1 for 3 we can come up with the list below.

Games that according to the blogging masses are a must play:

Diablo II (3), Deus Ex (3), Morrowind (3), Oblivion (3), KOTOR (3), NWN (3)

Other games worth checking out:

Ultima IV (2),Dragon Age: Origins (2) Rogue (1),Baldur’s Gate II (1)

Conclusion

Before the uproar begins, I do not totally agree with all these lists, it’s great to see other people opinions. If your only experience with PC RPG is WoW, then stop what you are doing right now and pick up a copy of one of the must play games today! You are seriously missing out.

If you could have a top 3 RPG list, what would they be? Don’t forget to vote for your favourite RPG on the current poll here.

Fallout 3 was the super successful sequel to the 1990′s insanely popular RPG PC games Fallout and Fallout 2.

The background on the Fallout games is that you are set in a post-nuclear apocalypse world. The world is covered in dirt and grime (think Terminator 3). Those few who have survived the nuclear war have built small towns or taken refuge in existing buildings. In a time like this there are hero’s of the people and villains who use the unfortunate times for personal gain.

During Fallout 3 you are an inhabitant of Vault 101. The Vault’s are large underground ‘worlds’ in which some of the population sheltered during the nuclear war. Once the war was over the Vault’s were to stay closed until the fallout had settled and the air was safe to breathe. Some opened early and were overrun by bandits and mutant ani

mals, others stayed closed and were ruled by dictator like overseers. After you leave the Vault you go off on your quest, along the way picking up many side quests, meeting colourful NPCs and shooting the crap out of bad dudes.

The game is made by Bethesda rather than Black Isle you made Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics. Like Bethesdas previous works (Oblivion and Morrowind), the world in which the game is contained is simply massive. There is so many random points of interest out in the wasteland. Abandoned gas stations, old manufacturing buildings, police stations, slavers, radio towers and dozens of townships are just a few of the things you may come by.

It’s not only the huge world that gives you freedom in this game. Like all of the Fallout series you are often given choices in which you can take the good, the bad or ‘I don’t give a crap’ path. Making these choices will effect how some NPCs react to you and what bonus quests will become available to you.

I really cannot recommend this game enough. If you explore this game fully it offers you hundreds of hours of game play, so in terms of value for money, it’s right up there. It is by far one the best RPG PC games of 2009.
