Pen and paper Dungeons and Dragons is what inspired PC RPGs way back in the late 1980s. It seems fitting that with the popularity of Massively Multiplayer Online games that it was only a matter of time until a D&D based RPG would surface.

Neverwinter builds upon the success of Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 in an open world MMO based in the Forgotten Realms. Below is the latest gameplay trailer showcasing what you can expect in this possible World of Warcraft killer.

How Much Of An RPG Nerd Are You?

Ok guys, so I just had to jump on here and tell you about this site I find. Some of you may already know it, but I had never seen it before.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking around on the internet for some shirts with some cool nerdy slogans. I found some funny ones but none that I felt truly expressed my inner nerdiness. My unfortunate problem is that I don’t look much like a nerd. Fitness is my other hobby and so I spend a lot of my time active and working as a Personal Trainer. Don’t get me wrong, I love being fit and healthy but I also love throwing people for a six by being awesome at games or wearing some ridiculously nerdy clothing.

Anyway, long story short I found this site J!nx. You can tell these guys are real nerds, they have J!nx experience points and gold that you can earn from being an active member on the site. Cool huh?
The site itself is quite easy to navigate and there are even licensed WoW and D&D shirts available. Shirts range from aroun US$18 to US$25 so pretty damn reasonable I feel. They currently have a promotion on if you buy 3 t-shirts you get $5 off each. So yes for you mathematicians out there that’s 15 bucks you save!

Neverwinter Nights

So you loved Baldur’s Gate? And then you loved Baldur’s Gate II? Well Neverwinter Nights is exactly what you are looking for.

Based on Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition rules, this fantasy style game gives you the choice of 8 classes to choose from. The original game alone contains over 50 hours of gameplay not including online gaming. 2 expansions provide you with nearly double the content as well as epic level feats and skills.

The storyline is a typical save the world and kill all the bad dudes. There is plenty of options to create your character into a super being of your choice. Take the path of a heavily fortified warrior with many layers of armour or become a sorcerer who can blast away all of his enemies in one fireball.

This is one of my favourite games of all time. While the graphics are a little dated, the story and gameplay are still top quality. I really can’t recommend it enough.
